Fendi And Skims Collaboration Is Designed For Modern Women

Fendi And Skims Collaboration

Skims – a lingerie brand owned by Kim Kardashian has joined forces with Fendi – a well-known Italian luxury fashion house that produces ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, fragrances, eyewear, e.t.c. to produce a capsule collection designed for a modern woman.

The collaboration seems to be a rare force but a force that makes so much sense. Kim Kardashian said it’s  “a cultural power that is very different from one another, but equally as strong” meaning an affordable lingerie fashion line paired with a luxury fashion giant says ‘affordable luxury’.

The collaboration is said to have been initiated by Kim Jones himself (Fendi’s creative director) he said:

“The idea for the collaboration came about when my team and I were sitting around a table at the studio in Rome,” Jones explains. “Suddenly, all the women went silent and started looking at their phones. I didn’t know what was going on, but they were waiting for the launch of the new Skims collection. It was then that I thought: let’s do something together.”

The capsule collection is known to have been from Fendi’s archive that was first introduced by Karl Lagerfeld in 1979. Kim Kardashian continued to say:

“We share a desire to push boundaries, think differently, and challenge convention which is why we found so much common ground collaborating on this collection together,”

Fendi’s new take to collaborate with brands seems to be an excellent strategy to bring the Fendi brand to a different category of customers. Fendi’s first surprise collaboration was with Versace during SS’22 London Fashion Week where the two big brands joined forces to deliver a palatable collection we’re are yet to get over (a collection that fits so much in the urban lifestyle and GenZ generation) now with skims to produce cult classics of underwear that fits different categories of women in the world. Kudos Kim Jones!

Skims the brand on the other hand has had its Instagram timeline filled with teasers of what the capsule collection featured from tights, to dresses, bodysuits, sheer tights, and sheer bra top coords, unitards, puffer jackets e.t.c. Skims took to it to Instagram and captioned one of its recent posts and said: “Introducing FENDI x SKIMS – a first of its kind collaboration that unites the luxury of @Fendi with the innovation of @SKIMS.
