When Fendi and Versace presented the ‘Fendace’ which is the name derived from Fendi-Versace it was a surprise to us all because it was presented during Spring Summer 2022 fashion week. We were still celebrating the designs and trends presented by each of these brands, and to top up the excitement, ‘Fendace’ showed up.
The collaboration is of course super iconic, and if you’re able to lay your hands on any of these Fendace fashion pieces they will remain forever in your wardrobe, I can imagine how much they will worth if you have to resell them as vintage pieces, all I’m trying to say is that they’re a great investment.
The visioneers behind this collaboration is none other than Donatella Versace, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Kim Jones. And of course, the collaboration didn’t go without a little controversy/sentiment, and the controversy is that it’s not a collaboration but a ‘swap’, it’s the uniting of two of the most powerful imaginations that birth love. Think of Versace’s legendary chainmail, safety pins, and medusa motifs, on Fendi first, and Fendi’s iconic baguette bags, what about the silk bomber jacket? – exquisite. When asked, Kim Jones the artistic director of Fendi womenswear and couture said:
“It’s a swap rather than a collaboration and, most of all, it is done out of friendship,” “It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”
The Fendi x Versace collection dropped on the 14th/05/2022 and the pieces are almost sold out at the time of this article. Fashion fans are already showing love for this collaboration, and the quicker you get yours the better. It’s a collection for fashion maximalists and party It-Girls.
The campaign for this collaboration was shot by none other than Steven Meisel, and the film was directed by Alex Maxwell. Supermodels like Adut Akech, Amar Akway, Anja Rubik, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam, and Lina Zhang were not missing from the scene.
“The campaign captures the same sense of friendship and energy we had when we were designing the collection. Kim is a visionary designer and innovator. To me, ‘Fendace’ will always mean love,”.
