At Balenciaga Autumn Winter 2022 haute couture presentation, the runway was a star-studded one, it featured many celebrities from Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Nicole Kidman, e.t.c. Despite having celebrities sit in the front row of the show, it didn’t stop the brand from filling its runway with them too. This is Balenciaga’s second couture show under Demna’s reign and won’t be the first celeb-packed show.
As controversial as the brand’s designs are, it didn’t stop him at designs but also included the society rejects to wear his designs on the runway too. To start with our beloved Kim Kardashian who was only able to find fame in the entertainment industry through the diary of her personal life, but would never have been considered a model to strut the runway due to her deficiency in height, but was able to walk the runway with her shoulders up look delectable in a black-draped asymmetric couture dress sending a strong message to the younger generations that would love to be like her that they can too regardless of their height, race, gender or age. Dua lipa can also be considered in this category, she’s curvy and with average height a definite No! No! to walk the runway back in the days, also shines in a beautiful yellow draped asymmetric couture dress to prove limitations are only a stepping stone.
What about Nicole Kidman? who should be considered to retire, proudly wore the brand’s silvery metallic gown finished with pair of pumps and opera gloves, again prooving to all that age is nothing.
The show featured others like Kris Jenner, Offset, North West, Alexa Demie, and Tracee Ellis Ross all as a front-rower while supermodels like Bella Hadid, and Naomi Campbell e.t.c. walked the Balenciaga’s controversial AW’22 Haute Couture runway.
The collection featured a lot of edgy or shall we call it controversial designs, the first was a set of matte black leather latex rubber with mini well-sculpted shoulder pads made into coat, jacket, dresses, long-tail gown, onesie, e.t.c. finished with shoes that were awkwardly shaped and box bags, to top it all up there were black helmets as headgear. There were textured fabric with a hint of sparkles translated into mini dresses, gowns, and suits in grey and black, there’s also a fabric like tweed but metallic tweed which seem to be the trend of the season also in dresses, gowns, and common denominator are the sculpted mini shoulder pads. There were metallics, frocks, bold colours, asymmetric dresses, drapery e.t.c. The final looks that stole the show were the bridal ball gowns that will make the best-dressed list on oscars’, Met Gala’s, and Emmy’s red carpet
