The 2023 Met Gala Theme Will Be ‘Karl Lagerfeld'

Fashion biggest night is only 3 days away and surprisingly how it came so close before spotting the date, nevertheless, it’s still not too late to sing the anthem. This year’s theme is ‘Karl Ladgerfeld’, like every Met Gala’s theme it requires thinking, you have to put a thought to it to be able to know what to wear and how it fit the theme. Are we wearing ‘Karl Ladgerfeld’? How? lol!

This year’s event will be taking place on May 1, 2023 at the ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art’, and if you do not know, Met Gala is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where celebrities come in the best of their attire on the first Monday of May every year, in support of the fundraising. Then I paused and asked myself, how does that impact anything in the fashion industry? Apparrently, the fund raising event gets a contribution of $50,000 per seat to support the ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art’ in a collection of more than 33,000 pieces of clothing, jewelry and accessories that documents fashion from the 1400s to now. To put in a lay man’s word, the aim is to keep fashion alive for many generations to come, be it up coming designer that wants a career in fashion, or the current designer that wants to expand his fashion knowledge, etc.

So this year’s them is ‘A Line of Beauty’ to honor Karl Lagerfeld’, Karl ladgerfeld was an iconic German fashion designer, creative director, artist and photographer who graceful pass on in 2019, he’d worked for Chanel, and Fendi, since 1983 till he passed, he brought back the ‘tweed trend’ we’re still enjoying in fashion right now. I believe to honor his legacy all attention is paid to Karl Ladgerfeld who was a regular attendee at The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. I’m guessing all his iconic designs from archive will be worn by the A’listers and possibly stored in the ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art’. I want to see his archives on the red carpet, and I also hope other designers will have their takes on Karl’s fashion sense.

See you at Met Gala!
