Prada Is Launching Its Own Makeup & Skincare Range

Having seen the success of its fragrance launch, Prada which holds a licensing partnership with L’Oréal Luxe has taken the next step to branch into makeup and skincare. The skincare and makeup are set to debut on 1st/08/2023 and will be a direct-to-consumer launch where it will be made available at www.prada-beauty.com and prada.com.

The subsequent launch will be on 18th August 2023 at Harrods and Selfridges in London, then in October 2023, another launch will be at Douglas in Munich, Frankfurt, and Dusseldorf, Germany, and Rinascente in Rome. The beauty retail store in the US is set to be opened in January 2024.

L’Oréal Luxe president, Cyril Chapuy said in a statement: “After the spectacular launch of Prada Paradoxe in 2022 that reinstated the brand’s leadership in feminine fragrances, the skin and color launch opens a new chapter that will propel the brand to new heights,”

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, Prada co-creative directors both added: “Abandoning all the clichés of the past, we believe that beauty today is the representation of one’s personality, freedom, and self-confidence.”

The launch will include six four-color eye palettes and a “soft-filter” foundation in 33 shades, face cream, makeup remover, and serums developed with the use of artificial intelligence. The price range will be 45 euros for lipstick, 80 euros for an eyeshadow palette, and 360 euros for face cream.

Prada had in the past launched a makeup line, this was back in 2000 to be precise but not long after it became discontinued and the brand focused all its effort on fragrances. Beauty in luxury brands has reached a higher height both in sales, and popularity and this is mainly because of the designer name they carry, to be honest, luxury brands do look for innovation in beauty which excites consumers, thanks to the likes of Dior, Tom Ford, Chanel, YSL and Giorgio Armani.

Prada won’t be the first luxury brand that will be branching into the beauty realm, Hermes, Gucci, and Valentino have all recently considered the category which pays off.
