When it comes to caring for our hair i’m sure we will like to invest in the most luxurious haircare products to achieve that bouncy, full and lustrous hair, but there are some habit we need to cultivate to take it up a notch. These are hacks your hairdresser hasn’t told you about;
1. Avoid Constant Fiddling Of Your Hair
Touching your hair too much can cause breakage to the side you’re most hands on. Avoiding constant fiddling and being mindful of how often you touch your hair will help keep its strengthen and maintain your hairstyle for a longer time.
2. Don’t Strip Your Hair Of Hydration By Taking Hot Shower
A lukewarm water is recommended when looking after your hair. The use of hot water is forbidden by the hair processionals as it can strip your hair of its essential oil leaving your hair dry hence breakage this is most recommended if you have afro, curly, or coarse hair. Lower the temperature and have a blast.
3. Shampoo Your Hair From The Root Up
Hair professionals advise not to start shampooing from the tip of the hair as this can cause the hair to tangle leading to loss of hair. To shampoo, you’re best bet to be strategic about it. Start by combing out the hair to ensure there are no tangles, then pour the shampoo on the palm of your hands, then gently rub it in from the root making your way to tip of the hair. Most time you don’t need to touch the tip of the hair but solely focus on the root and that’s sufficient because rinsing the hair will work its way to the tip, it will pick up any surface dirt leaving the hair clean and not damaged.
4. Only Apply Vitamin C To The Length And Ends Of Your Coloured Hair
Avoiding the root when applying Vitamin C to your hair will boost the colour of your hair. It works by lifting build-up from products, colouring, & pollution. It gives the a fresh take without changing the colour, it makes the air very light and not feel flat. Apply by parting your hair into big sections and only apply to length and ends of your hair and wait for that colour brightness.
5. Use A Silk Hair Tie & Pillow Case
The use of silk hair tie and pillow case will reduce friction, tension and breakage. The use of hair elastic and cotton pillow case is not advisable as this can promote hair breakage. Hair professionals advice to always tie hair up on the crown of the head to give the root a lift and a long lasting volume. A soft braid overnight is also a good way to maintain your hair overnight, it promotes volume and prevents breakage.
