As the spring season is fully on us, it’s also a perfect time to press refresh in our skincare routine. Spring skin does not require much, it only needs a basic routine, few steps and gentle products to achieve a clean, clearer and glowing skin. From cleansing, repairing and protecting, knowing what to use, when to use, and how to use it will make a major difference in your skin.
1.Cleanse Only When Necessary: While some skin may require morning and evening cleansing some don’t, for example a dry a skin only need an evening cleansing while an oily skin might allow twice a day. Morning routine are a great start for any skin but been wise while doing this matters, to avoid drying the skin by over cleansing it. A good skincare care routine in the morning does not necessary require much but just spritzing a face mist/toner/essence, hyaluronic acid serum, moisturiser and sunscreen, some will even stop at toner and sunscreen to get their day started. So the question is when it comes to cleansing when is the best time and how often? – I will say cleanse once a day and you’re most recommended to cleanse in the evening because that’s when you’re at rest the most and so is your skin hence your skincare products can be at their most effective.
2. The Use Of Vitamin C: Vitamin C in serums, moisturisers, and cleansers is always a good habit in any spring skincare routine. Vitamin C is known to help the skin to fight free radicals hence making it resistant to ‘up and down’ weather temperature, harsh cold and hot weather, hormone imbalance etc. In fact dermo-pharmacist, and dermatologist said it is a must have, it’s a key ingredient you do want on your skin during the spring season to allow your skin to glow as it also brightens. Vit C is known to be a potent antioxidant that boost collagen production in the skin, reduces UVB light damage hence great skin.
3. Intentional Use SPFs: Despite the fact that we have SPFs in our moisturisers and makeup product does not mean it’s enough protection from the dangerous UVA and UVB that causes permanent DNA damage. Since you can’t get enough protection from makeups and moisturisers then you’re best advised to use a ‘Standalone SPFs’. And you’re most advised to use your SPFs lavishly, although they say to use the two/three thumb rule but I will say use it lavishly.
4. Keep Hydrated: Drinking water as you go is a good way to keep your skin hydrated which benefits all skin types if applied in everyday life. Drinking water is not the only way to keep the skin hydrated but also the use of hyaluronic acid serum/sheet mask/moisturiser which works best when placed on wet skin to pull water into the skin and holds it there. The result is more than just making skin look plumper, but glowing with less lined skin.
