Covet’s Take On New Morphe’s Lightform Foundation

Morphe Lightform Extended Hydration Foundation £20.00

As the new season is fully on us, more and more brands are launching new makeup products that are suitable for the season. These makeup products are lightweight so as not to weigh down the overworking pores in forthcoming hot weather. They are easy to blend and this is a character a makeup product must have to achieve a flawless glam look. Most importantly the new season’s makeup products have to have skincare benefits, meaning to be packed full of skin nourishing ingredients to protect, and hydrate the skin.

Having looked through the flooded market, we at COVET spotted the new Morphe Lightform Extended Hydration Foundation’. It seems very interesting to us, starting from the name – extended hydration?, price, and ingredients.

According to the brand’s website, the foundation was described as a weightless, long-wearing foundation with a formulation that floats on to diffuse imperfections instantly with undetectable, buildable medium coverage. It’s made with a HydroRelief Complex which works to improve and maintain skin’s moisture balance and barrier function over time. It’s clinically proven to hydrate for up to 16 hours*, leaving the skin with a lasting natural radiance that glows from within. It’s available in 36 shades making it an inclusive product. It contains hyaluronic acid for hydration.

Reading all the above just got the excitement on, so we went ahead and bought it. It retails for £20 at morphe.com. And of course the next step or shall I say the right thing to do is to wear it. So we wore it using the ‘Morphe M101 Lightform Dual-Ended Complexion Brush’ to apply it(The brush came as a free gift for buying the foundation by the way). At the first pump, we expect a watery foundation as hyaluronic acid can sometimes cause a foundation to be watery but to our surprise, the foundation has a thickness to it which is great. The foundation is definitely lightweight and pigmented even with the fact that it’s a medium coverage foundation, it can become a full coverage foundation if layered up; meaning giving it a second/third application. It has water hydration not hydration from oil which is all a good thing, it’s so close to the skin – hard to tell if you’re wearing makeup, but the flaw? it turns orange when applied.

The foundation oxidized although settles in before the end of your makeup routine, but the oxidation just makes the product a fail or if put in other words ‘turn off.’ It’s long-wearing with excellent hydration throughout the day and it delays oil production in the face. Our skin didn’t react to the product badly, like it was said earlier it later calms down – meaning the orange look goes away giving a natural finish to the overall makeup look. The foundation worked well with other makeup products from concealer to colour corrector. It’s not dry, not cakey, does not settle in fne lines and weightless on the skin. Covet will not be buying a second bottle this season, hopefully, a better new launch will make up for the loss of joy from the use of the Lightform foundation. We love Morphe and we will be buying one of the newly launched eyeshadows shortly and of course, COVET will not hesitate to share its experience with you.
