The 2022 Black Friday Sale is here, and this year seems very exciting because of the anticipation of looking forward to what has been discounted, ‘Would they have discounted those special pieces I’ve had my eyes on?’. To be honest, trying to lay hands on the pieces from my favourite brands is the emotion I have been carrying around this year, so, to avoid anxiety, I decided that scoring pieces from one brand at a time is the way to enjoy sale shopping, which can be perfected over time.
Here at Covet, we’ve learned that waiting for all brands to put all their best discounts out before shopping can be a bit too much and can lead to overspending, so to look after our sanity, we’ve decided not to use impulse to shop, this season, but to use necessity, meaning ensuring whatever the pieces we’re going for are essentials and will remain forever in our wardrobe.
When essentials have been put together, then we can start injecting a few trendy pieces here and there, just to have fun in the now as we all know trends don’t last too many seasons. And this can be done weekly or 2 weekly as the sale goes on, by the time the sale is over, you’d have put a good wardrobe together with less to nothing.
Another tip to having fun during sale shopping is to make a good wishlist before you start, this will give you more control over impulses, because you don’t want to buy something that appears shiny and tempting from the rail, then hate it when unwrapped at home (most sale items can’t be returned). Making a wishlist of what you have been tagging throughout this year, will help you to stay focused and in control of your spending. Classic pieces like slip dresses, knitwear, winter coat, blazers, denim jeans, tailored trousers, designer bags, party wear, e.t.c. are priorities when shopping for sale items, you can also secure some giftable items for your Christmas giftings too.
If you’ve been buying your pieces from high street brands because you’ve been saving and keeping extra eyes on your finances, but would rather spend during the sale period as a way of monitoring your budget this year, then this is the time to invest in designer pieces, it’s the time to stock up on high-quality essentials, leather goods, accessories, from favourite designers like Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana e.t.c.
Sometimes investing in one luxury handbag and shoes can rescue you throughout the season for all occasions, while high street brands like mango can make up for the difference in bags. and shoes.
The same goes for beauty essentials, stock up on important things like quality shampoos, conditioners, nourishing hair oil, moisturising body washes, heavy and lightweight moisturisers to last you till spring/summer, body oil to seal-in moisture this dry season, including lip balms, lipsticks, eyeshadows, face creams, face serums, facial oil e.t.c.
So, since not all brands have started their sale yet, this space will continually get updated as the sale season goes by, so keep coming back, you might find those items important to you.
As the state of the economy has sounded a warning sign to everyone, its good not to buy what you don’t need, it’s better to save up now but rather invest in what is really essential that can last you many seasons to come
