Byredo – a Swedish luxury company who produces luxurious fragrances, leather goods and accessories. The brand was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham in Stockholm- its first release of fragrances were sage, musk and orange , the company has since then released many other most loved fragrances and has also invested in brands like Dyptique and space NK.
The brand then went on to launch its first handbag in 2017 during Paris Fashion Week and fine jewellery in 2023 as a permanent category for the brand. In May 2022 Spanish conglomerate – Puig bought majority stake of the brand with the founder Ben Gorham remaining as the shareholder and chief creative officer until June 2025. In a statement Gorham said:
“I am proud of what we were able to achieve over a 20-year journey and am confident in a bright future for Byredo.”
We at COVET believe Gorham has cashed in good money over the years but truth is how can he agree to leaving this June in the agreement signed with Puig. We understand business is to be ran by selling part of the stake of the brand and keeping part, well may be there is a better future for Byredo.
