Pieter Mulier – Alaia’s creative director, gathered stars to honor the legacy of Azzedine Alaïa who passed away back in 2017. The gesture was nothing but full respect and a show of confidence from the creative director.
The fashion show took place at Rue de Moussy where the Spring’22 RTW was presented. The models walked down the runway with trends and new trends. There were balloon skirts, draped dresses, leather looks, the three-piece suit trend with a little bit of hooded edge to the design. The runway also features mini dresses with ruffle detailing at the bottom, jumpsuits, bold colors, metallics, furs, heavy-duty coats, sheer dresses, longline pencil dresses, e.t.c.
The accessories also carried stardom during the presentation of the collection. it featured fringe knee-length flat sandals, clogs, hobo bags, oversized bags, bucket bags, loafers, cut-out boots, jewelry detailed flat pumps, dramatic heeled wedge mules e.t.c.
The creative director said “For me, it’s about how to explain the codes [Alaïa invented] to a new generation,” “They don’t like the word ‘sexual’ here, but I do. Because to me, this is the only house in the world which is sexual without being vulgar. It’s actually about pure beauty, and working on the body, which I have never seen anywhere else.”
