JANELLE MONÁE IS HAVING MORE FUN AT PARIS FASHION WEEK THAN ANYONE ELSE
In addition to being a multi-award-winning singer/songwriter and actress, Janelle Monáe is consistently a sartorial delight. Whether performing her music on stage or walking the red carpet at an awards ceremony, Monáe’s whimsical style is a constant reminder of just how much fun fashion (and beauty) can be. This weekend, Monáe took that approach with her to Paris Fashion Week Fall ’19, where she showed up to her front-row runway seats in a range of outfits that were playful in just the right way.
Monáe has made black-and-white ensembles somewhat of a signature over the years, and she stuck with that combination while attending the Thom Browne show in matching shorts, a blazer and a tie by the designer. But for the rest of the weekend, she threw some red into the mix, too, whether in the form of a felt hat worn with a voluminous-sleeved ensemble at Giambattista Valli or in poppy-coloured slacks, paired with a pussy-bow collar and wide-sleeved blouse at Stella McCartney. For Valentino, she ditched the black and white completely and went for head-to-toe red, from her beret to her kitten heels (which she wore with socks). The one other hit of colour Monáe opted for was bright-blue eye shadow worn at both Giambattista Valli and Stella McCartney, making the shade seem surprisingly versatile.
