Lady gaga’s role in her new movie ‘House Of Gucci’ landed her in hospital due to her methodical acting skill. Gaga’s approach on the set of the movie is said to be intense and something that’s believed to have been taken too far.
If you do not know what ‘House of Gucci’ is, this is the answer to all that quest; This is a movie about the real-life story of Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. Maurizio Gucci is was an Italian businessman and the one-time head of the Gucci fashion house. He was the son of actor Rodolfo Gucci and grandson of the company’s founder Guccio Gucci. On 27 March 1995, he was shot dead at age 46 by a hitman hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. The truth behind his murder is said to be around his divorce after Gucci left Reggiani for a younger woman.
For Lady Gaga, portraying a killer as an actress in Hollywood, about a fashion brand name that’s popularly known, and not to talk of the discomfort of following the tragic story of the fashion house, the potential of winning an oscar, sitting back looking at these can drive anyone into a gaga state of mind.
The actress and singer-songwriter said during the premiere of the movie and at a magazine interview, she had to live as Patrizia Reggiani for more than a year so she can truly portray the character in her role in the movie. Gaga also said;
‘It is three years since I started working on it, and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as her for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that, Off-camera, too. I never broke. I stayed with her,’ No wonder she needed professional help during her time on set.
Additionally, she also suffered anxiety onset that she had to vomit, Gaga continued in her statement saying; ‘(There’s) a scene where I knock a lit candle across the room, and I remember I gave Salma (Hayek) a heart attack that day, I was falling apart as (Patrizia) fell apart. When I say that I didn’t break character, some of it was not by choice.’ This incident ended her in the hospital.’ Gaga also added that the director of the film (Ridley Scott) had to intervene. She continued: ‘Ridley said, “I don’t want you traumatizing yourself.” And I said, “I already have. I’ve already been through this anyway. I might as well give it to you.” And he said, “Well, leave it here and don’t do this to yourself anymore.”‘
According to Grazia, she also revealed waking up as early as 3 am to shoot the film and get into character, this caused a lot of trauma, fatigue, exhaustion, commitment, and above all, she said it caused ‘Love’.
The ‘House Of Gucci’ is due to be released here in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2021.
