After a year to two years of Zoom parties, the time to let loose has come. The lockdown is over and it’s time to treat ourselves to lovely Christmas party dresses. And because this year’s celebration is a different one, (celebrating life that wasn’t taken by Covid and of course the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ), you might be thinking of going ‘bling! bling!’ this season. I’m talking about sequin dresses.
Sequin dresses are first all appropriate for any festive parties this season and so much a way to treat yourself. Sequin dresses are mainly made out of reflective bits of metals sewn into dresses and were popular among the nobility and wealthy during the 17th to 19 centuries and they remain a classic in any season wardrobe till now.
If you want to add a bit of sparkle to your look, then you can’t go wrong with sequin dresses, and there are many options in the market right now. Some come with frocks, some in a cocktail dress, e.t.c.
When it comes to styling a sequin dress, the first thing to know is that a metallic dress will give your overall style-look a wow factor, this is why it’s good to style it with a non-metallic pair of pumps, ankle boots, stiletto thigh-high boots e.t.c. I won’t say with a pair of sandals because those are more appropriate for the summer season.
A good 60-100 denier tights with pumps or boots will finish a sequin dress elegantly. While finishing the look, I believe a mini matte leather clutch or an oversized clutch, if you prefer, is also good to finish the look. Keep the jewelry to the barest minimum, a simple pair of small stud earrings is enough as jewelry just because the dress is metallic. Finally, for the beauty look, slick your hair back to show off your face shape, metallic nude eyes with creamy nude lips are enough for your beauty look. Step out of the door with a good camel coat and 2-3 spritz of fruity musky perfume.
Buying a good sequin dress is always a great investment, as they can also be worn at summer parties, weddings e.t.c. Covet has put together a few ‘high and low luxe’ (Luxury pieces and affordable pieces) sequin dresses for you, so they can fit every budget. From the likes of Halpern, Bottega Veneta, Simone Rocha, Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo, Missguided, and so on you will definitely find something that suits you.
