The season where a little goes a long way is finally here, heavy foundations and powders are now replaced with lighter powder foundations or better still tinted moisturizers. The good thing about this new age makeup is the hybrid character they carry, and we so much appreciate this new formulation where our skin can enjoy the benefit of skincare while wearing makeup, and the twist to wearing makeup this time around is the natural-looking finish we get with tinted moisturizers.
Tinted moisturizers are known to give the skin a natural-looking makeup look, because the major ingredient in them is moisturizer and of course with a hint of color. They are the best alternative to heavy foundations, powders, etc in the summer season. The best ones have to have nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid(to plump and hydrate), Vit C(to brighten and protect), Squalane(for suppleness and sealing moisture), and Niacinamide (to balance oil production, and clear hyperpigmentation), etc, thus helping the skin to thrive in health and in ash times. For example, in hot weather the skin overworks, sweats, and produces a lot of oil, hence becoming bad-tempered that even the best moisturizers or foundation will block the pores if they are not lightweight, and protective. This is why a good tinted moisturizer must be lightweight, and full of antioxidants to protect the skin from free radicals like sun rays, internal aggressors, etc. A good tinted moisturizer though contains mostly moisturizer it must have a reasonable amount of coverage without the ‘cakeyness’ or settling in fine lines or pores. It has to be hydrating, and blur imperfections.
This being said although we are looking into tinted moisturizers with the skincare benefits of SPF protection, it’s good to note that wearing a tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 or 50 should not stop you from wearing your everyday SPF during your body care or skincare routine. There are different types of tinted moisturizers, we have luminous sometimes called dewy, matte, and cream. The cream is great for the dry skin type, matte for oily skin, matte for combination, and of course the dewy/luminous can be used by any because they’re to achieve a type of makeup that looks (dewy) although anyone with dry skin type will enjoy the dewy formulation the most, and if you have oily skin it will only make the makeup look better.
Tinted moisturizers are so easy to apply, you can either use your foundation brush or sponge but mostly applied with the hands for a natural finish. There are many brands known for the best-tinted moisturizers, they range from Nars, Bare Minerals, Saie, Chantecaile, etc discover them below:
