Who knows dry brushing can be a way to achieving a good skin because for someone like me who is sensitive to abrasion it’s a no! no! but the truth is if you do know how to dry brush your face then you are on your way to achieving that Jlo glow skin.
Dry brushing is an old fashion way to buff away dead skin cells, it is used on dry skin and it’s a step that comes after cleansing and pat dry during a skincare routine – Facial brushing is not limited to exfoliating the skin but also boost blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.- It also depuffs as well as help define the face – it’s such a gentle routine that’s suitable for a sensitive skin.
To know how to dry brush your face like a pro – start by investing in a brush with soft bristles and a round head to aid circular movement during the routine, please note that dry facial brushes are different from cleansing brushes – which are electrically powered and used along with cleansing soap to deep clean the pores.
Start by making a flicking movement similar to when whisking your eggs – dry brush your face starting from the décolletage upward, move in small circular motion – move the brush upward and outward to the shoulder, neck until you get to your face – ensure you buff off every area on your face avoiding the delicate sensitive eye area. It’s recommended to do this 2-3 times a week(morning & evening) before applying your toner, serums, moisturisers and facial oil. Your face might become red or skin flushed – do not panic as this is a sign of good blood flow.
All skin types will benefit from dry -brushing skincare routine except dry skin type which can make it drier even further. Which brings us to the declaimer that says if your skin feels tight, sensitised or irritated after dry brushing then the technique is not for you. Applying aloe vera to calm the skin is recommended while you think of alternative way to achieve the same result – we recommend chemical exfoliator applied with face massage.
