We’ve talked about Dapper Dan and his contract with Gap on this platform before, well he’s now dropped a new logomania series this season and it’s everything fashion trend. the Harlem fashion designer and haberdasher dropped a limited edition of a new take on hoodie sweatshirts for Gap.
Dan is known to win the hearts of his neighborhood with his work, this time was spotted wearing a Houndstooth hooded sweatshirt part of his new collection, something very different. We know houndstooth to be a classic print in skirts, and jackets but not in hoodies. This is what makes this collection very interesting. he said during an interview about his logomania series: “To thine own self, be true,” he says. “If I’m the father of logomania, I have to incorporate it.”
The campaign was shot by Joshua Kissi and the Dapper Dan x Gap collection also known as Dap Gap features 18-piece apparel, bags, and accessories that range from toddler size to 3XL in adult and price from $25 to $128. There were patchwork sweatshirts, modern DAP monogrammatic hooded sweatshirts, modern striped hooded sweatshirts, modern color palettes, etc. The legend has redefined how sweatshirts or in other words, streetwear are perceived on people of color. He continued in his interview: “Remember Trayvon Martin? Remember the whole controversy about his hoodie? That burned a hole in my heart,” “When Gap came to me, I thought about it. I have the opportunity to change how people perceive people of color in hoodies. I have the opportunity to destigmatize this concept of people of color wearing a hoodie.”
