A.Potts, BruceGlen, Kaphill, N’Gai and Richfresh are the line up of designers Gap – an American clothing and accessories retailer has recently collaborated with.
As part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to championing inclusivity the American apparel retailer launched its collaboration with Harlem’s fashion row’s designers. Harlem’s Fashion Row is an agency that bridges the gap between brands and designers of colour.
The collaboration features a 16-piece designs that showcased the work of black designers – A. Potts’ – Aaron Potts, BruceGlen’s – Bruce and Glen Porter, Kaphill’s – Krystal Phillips, N’Gai’s – Nicole King and RichFresh’s – Patrick Henry. The 16-piece collection features shirts of various types from sweatshirt, to cotton poplin shirt, denim shirt etc all with a soft edge to it. You’d see a sweatshirt with rose appliqué details or just a simple poplin shirt with layers.
The collection launched on Wednesday – 12/02 and the price range from $89 – $129. Harlem Fashion Row founder Brandice Daniel said in a statement:
“We’ve been working with Gap Inc. since 2019, […] and for us, we’re just excited to take our partnership to the next level through this collaboration, There are so many incredible brands — such as Gap — that believe in celebrating all people, and we’re excited to be able to show this in a very unique way. […] I think what this collaboration is going to bring is joy. We felt joy from the moment we sat down and ideated on this in 2024 throughout the entire process.”
According to Harlem’s Fashion Row agency although it’s a collaboration between GAP and the designers, but each talents has full control over what he/she puts on the table and of course with the help of GAP design team.
Daniel continued in his statement: “I want [shoppers] to feel joy, Throughout] this process, we had meetings where I and some of the designers were literally in tears. […] We made the Gap office our office during this process. […] I feel like the consumers feel love if there was love there [in the creation process] and there was so much love here. When [the collection] is on the floor at the stores, I think people will feel that.”
