POST SUMMER HAPPY FEET

WITH 3 SMALL STEPS

When it comes to typical beauty routines, caring for your feet is probably not at the top of your list and is often neglected. Since feet are covered up for most of the year, they aren’t cared for as much as other parts of your body that are constantly on display. However, with the amount of stress that is placed on our feet we should definitely be taking better care of them.

Here are some quick-tips to keep your feet looking its best anytime of the year:

Exfoliate

On a weekly basis you lose about a million skin cells. To keep your feet looking fresh and smooth, you need to exfoliate away the dead skin cells and get rid of any dry patches you may have. Exfoliating also helps to stimulate cell regulation. Additionally, removing excess dead skin cells will help make your moisturizer more effective and absorb better.

The Soap & Glory Sugar Body Scrub is an excellent exfoliator. However, if you’re on a stricter budget, keep in mind that you can always make your own sugar scrub exfoliator with granulated brown sugar and your favourite scented oil. Another popular product used for exfoliation is the Scholl Electric Foot File.

Moisturize

We all know that skin is constantly put under a lot of stress and to help compact such stress we need to feed it nutrients. Moisturizers do just that. It is especially crucial to moisturize after exfoliation. After stripping away all the excess dead skin, you’ve essentially broken down the barrier to the delicate skin that is seeking nutrients.

One of our favourites is the Shea Butter Foot Cream by L’Occitane.

Reduce Swelling

After a long day your feet are likely to look swollen or puffy. There are ways to combat puffiness that are easier than you would expect. Firstly, you can try to elevate your feet. This will help with blood circulation and over time, you’ll notice that swelling has reduced significantly. Another tip to reduce puffiness is to eat less sugary foods, since sugar is a major cause of swelling. A diet that consists of lower levels of sugars will not only help your complexion, but also reduce the amount of unnecessary water retention in your body, thus reducing puffiness.
