Terry Clothing Is The New Post lockdown Obsession For All Things Soft This Summer Season

When you think of warm summer days and what to wear, you think of silk, linen, cotton, taffeta, Viscose e.t.c but the surprisingly trending fabric that we’ll be wearing all summer is the new terry fabric. Many brands like Bottega Veneta have had their takes on this fabric with the design of their new addition of clutch collection, our beloved celebrities like Beyonce, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian have also been spotted wearing it as well.

The fabric is not just for dressing gowns or towels anymore, but fashion has now extended it to our dresses, playsuits, joggers, bags, sandals, bikinis e.t.c.

When this trend first started, I was a little bit bias about it, I snubbed it thinking fashion is gone too far, because other than my loungewear, I don’t want anything terry in my wardrobe, but seeing Beyonce sport her own version in a neon mini dress, Rihanna sported hers in pastel coords, while Kim sported hers in form of loungewear, I had to jump on this trend wagon. I was convinced it’s the way to go this summer, the fabric looked so gorgeously on and I can’t help but buy one.

Fendi is another of our favourite brands that have embraced this cozy fabric, and high street/fast fashion brands like mango, Zara e.t.c. have followed the suit.

Although the lockdown is over, the one thing I believe we’ll be taking along with us is the new obsession for all things soft. The terry trend first emerges at the Spring Summer’21 runway show by Bottega Veneta, The Row, Mary-Kate, and Ashley Olsen, e.t.c. and many retailers from Matchesfashion, Selfridges, to Net-a-porter have all stocked up this new trend.

What to note about this trend is that it’s a vintage bohemian fashion style and can be dressed down with our favourite flat sandals, crossbody bags or can easily be elevated with a pair of heeled sandals and a clutch.
