Balmain Autumn Winter 2022 Ready To Wear Collection

Balmain AW22 Collection

Before the show, Olivier posted on his social media timeline saying:

“We are well aware that there are more important things happening in the world today. It’s hard to feel right about focusing on runways and clothes, as we listen with a heavy heart to the latest news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ukrainians. We are inspired by their dignity, resilience, and devotion to freedom.” He continued in his post: “These runway offerings were not designed as a direct response to the recent horrific invasion of our neighbours and I would never dare to even think of comparing the suffering that they are going through right now with the problems that I have had on social media. Still, as we watch the news, my team and I do keep in mind this collection’s message: united in solidarity, we can rely on the power of hope and truth to push back against hate, lies, and aggression.”

The Balmain AW’22 collection featured all things edgy, glamour, contemporary urban designs, talk of body armor, tactical gear, protective wear, compression pads, does this sound like a ski wear and gadget to you? If yes, then let me tell you that, they’re are all wearable designs with inspiration drawn from the unexpected.

The show opened with two tribal dances to entertain the audience, followed by the models walking down the runway with out of this world (vulgar designs and I mean it in a good way) designs, from quilted leather boot leggings to laces, tweeds, gold metals, pieces of denim, ball gowns, embellishments, embroidery, onesies, cut-outs, tye-dye, quilted leather skirts, P.O.P  platform sneakers, boot sandals, quilted healed boots with gold details around the heels, oversized leather biker jackets, quilted structured blazers(oversized), there were power suiting that can be worn out of office hours, such exquisite designs. Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director is indeed down to earth to his craftsmanship, he’s not afraid to go for the odds, and make it so glamourous.

The accessories were gladiator sunglasses, gold finger rings, lip rings, logo embossed bags, from satchels to structured, leather boots, trainer boots, chunky loafers, chunky sneakers, mini bags, leather gloves, leather belts e.t.c.

There were 107 style looks on the runway, and the show was concluded with three ball gowns something I can call ‘bridal’, and the beauty looks were fresh face and slicked-back hair.
