In today’s article we will be looking into how to wear colours as part of our autumn winter style looks, although it seem the oddest time of the year to think of colours but bold colours is part of the FW’25 style trend and the way the models unapologetically strutted down the runways in these bright hues is just inspirational. There were jewel toned shade, pastel, acid etc.
Wearing colours gives a boost of confidence in any season which we all need once in a while. Last season designers played with pastel hues like butter yellow, icy blue, burgundy e.t.c. but this season seem to be bolder on runway , – think of colour saturation in corals, violet, jade etc. in powered shouldered jackets, pencil skirts, and so on.
For a minimalist bold colours might seem intimidating but you can start a step at a time – I will suggest you wear your favourite neutrals and finish with hint of colour. Navy blue, beige and camel may seem strong colour to wear in winter but having seen the FW’25 runway, the sense of power colours emits is stronger than that of navy or camel. Colours help you to stand out while neutral give an off duty look.
So what are the ways we can we colours in Autumn 2025? continue reading….
1. Head To Toe :
The mono colour style trend has been around for a few seasons before the current but it’s a look that’s not going anywhere any time soon. It’s stylish, odd and sophisticated. To make your outfit have an impact, consider putting a full colour on this season. Tom Ford played with head -to-toe emerald green while Ferragamo’s model were styled in tomato red. Mono colour dressing is an effortless look that requires little to nothing to achieve, it’s just a simple way to celebrate fashion flair.
2. Play With Mixture Of Complimentary Tones And Textures:
While playing with saturated colours this season, it’s also good to know embracing different textures will create that balance you need if you are not into one colour style look. For example you can mix leather with cashmere, silk with leather, suede with silk, – for example you can wear a pastel blue cashmere sweater paired with a well tailored cotton wide leg trousers finished with a. leather blazer. So, using silk, wool, suede, leather to create interesting contrast with a dash of colour – for a complimentary tone fashion flair is the way to go this season.
3. After Dark Ensemble
After dark is a cocktail hour and what to wear is an opportunity to show off a hint of neon hue in your outfit, compare to everyday wear in your wardrobe or even a LBD when we talk of after dark ensemble. And where practicality meets versatility it makes sense to wear your colour in cocktail dress, just finished it with black accessories.
4. Colour Block
Another fun way to wear bold colours this season is clashing the colours with what matches, for example, soft pink and burgundy, lilac with lime, black and brown,, lime with chocolate e.t.c. The fall’25 runway advocates colour clashing this season, simply finish the look with neutral shade accessories.
5. In Oversized Power Suiting:
The 80’s bankers aesthetic is been around for many seasons and designers keep bringing different takes, we’ve experienced the Balmain sharp shoulder pad, in silk, Saint Laurent’s whose iteration is the width of the shoulder held up by oversized shoulder pad. In the recent season, designers championed a well put together vivacious hues, it’s not so much of the ‘oversisizedness’, although it’s still very much there but celebration of colours. Invest in pink hues, leafy green, butter yellow and you’re golden..
