It has been reported that after Kanye West’s series of antisemitic statements about the Jews and its community, Adidas will no longer have anything to do with the rapper who now goes by ‘Ye’ anymore.
Kanye has made many antisemitic statements on social media and in his interview with fox news, the statements that have been condemned by high-profile figures have now put Adidas the sportswear giant under immense pressure to end all relationships with the Yeezy founder – Ye.
Adidas said on its website: “Adidas does not tolerate anti-semitism and any other sort of hate speech, Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
Adidas has also estimated a loss due to this occurrence, to be £217 million on the company’s net income in 2022. The company has stopped all payments to the rapper and ended all production of Yeezy products with immediate effect.
Not only Adidas is cutting ties with Kanye West, but it has also been confirmed by Kering on the 21st Oct. 2022 that Balenciaga who is part of the Kering Group will no longer have anything to do with Ye. This for whom just three weeks ago, Ye walked its spring/summer 2023 runway said in a released statement: “has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist”.
Finally, although made no reference to her former spouse, Kim Kardashian, Ye’s ex-wife tweeted a condemnation to hate speech directed at the Jewish community.
She wrote:
