The fashion industry was left speculating as to what comes next to Bottega Veneta when Daniel Lee was announced to be exiting the brand as its creative director. Well, less than a week after, comes in Mathieu Blazy who is said to be taking an effective immediate take over.
According to Fashionista, Blazy is known to have been working behind the scenes on Bottega Veneta designs and has accumulated experiences from brands like Raf Simmons, Celine, and Maison Margiela. Mathieu Balzy is a Paris born designer and a graduate of Brussels’La Cambre.
Mathieu Blazy has had experience working behind the scene of Bottega Veneta’s designs since 2020 during the reign of Daniel Lee but as a ready-to-wear design director in Daniel Lee’s team. Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta said in a statement:
“Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury house, Bottega Veneta has always been equated with signature craftsmanship and distinctive creativity. Matthieu’s appointment will further enhance the modern relevance of our brand and accelerate our growth while preserving the values that are at the core of Bottega Veneta.”
The Chairman and CEO of Kering – Francois Henri Pinault, Kering who owns the majority of Bottega Veneta also said in a statement:
“The very solid foundations, specific codes, and unique identity of Bottega Veneta enable us to nurture great ambitions for the future of this luxury house. I am confident that Matthieu Blazy’s wealth of experience and broad cultural background will allow him to bring his creative impetus to the task of carrying on the legacy of Bottega Veneta.”
